• Anyone who doesn't spend at Choice Hotels. Its largest printed rate, 10x on hotels, pays only at Choice Hotels. Anywhere else it earns its base 1x, so the headline number is a loyalty rate rather than a category rate — which is why no ranking on this site counts it.
• Spending outside its bonus categories. Everything else earns 1x, worth about 0.6¢ per dollar at our value for Choice Privileges — less than the 1¢ a plain cash-back card pays on the same dollar. This card only wins where its bonus categories do.
