Citi ThankYou points transfer partners & sweet spots
Citi ThankYou points can move to 16 airline and hotel partners — Airline partners transfer 1:1; a couple of hotel ratios differ (noted). American AAdvantage transfers 1:1 from Strata Elite, Strata Premier and Prestige; select no-annual-fee ThankYou cards transfer to AA at 1:0.7 unless combined with an annual-fee ThankYou card. Citi is the only major program that transfers to Choice at 1:2. Transferring to the right program is where these points beat their 1.10¢ cash value.

Where the value is
- American AAdvantage — the only bank transfer into AASince July 2025 Citi is the sole transferable currency that reaches American AAdvantage, at 1:1 from Strata Elite, Strata Premier and Prestige. That opens oneworld premium-cabin awards (Qatar Qsuites, JAL, Cathay) that no other bank points can book directly. No-fee-only ThankYou accounts transfer at 1:0.7, which is rarely worth it.
- Choice Privileges at 1:2Citi is one of the few programs that transfers to Choice Privileges at 1:2, doubling your point count. That can produce strong value at Choice's European Preferred and Ascend Collection properties, where cash rates run high relative to the points cost.
- Star Alliance via Turkish or AviancaThe same Turkish Miles&Smiles and Avianca LifeMiles Star Alliance sweet spots available to Capital One transferers are reachable through Citi, subject to the same booking quirks and changing availability.
