• Anyone who won't work the statement credits. The C$799 fee is argued for by C$400 of printed credits, spread across 2 separate credits. Each one only pays if you were going to spend that way anyway; ignore them and the whole C$799 has to come back through earn rates instead.
• Anyone who spends abroad. Every purchase in a foreign currency carries a 2.5% foreign transaction fee. On a card earning 1.0¢ per dollar at the base rate, that fee costs more than the rewards on the same purchase.
